Associations and foundations

We have extensive expertise in not-for-profit law. We advise associations and foundations on all aspects of their operation. Our clients are active in a large number of sub-sectors of the non-profit and social profit landscape, including universities and colleges, hospitals, NGOs, professional associations, religious congregations, facilities for the elderly and for people with disabilities.

Aurion advises and assists associations and foundations on among other things:

  • incorporation

  • drafting and amending articles of association, internal rules, delegation of powers

  • directors’ liability

  • dissolution and liquidation

  • good governance

  • volunteers

  • donations

  • corporate housekeeping

We go beyond merely providing legal advice. We support our clients by taking on the role of project leader or coordinator between all parties involved and (legal) advisors in a file.

Process management (e.g. in the framework of governance tracks for associations and foundations), acting alone or together with other experts, is also part of our practice.

Aurion is a one-stop-shop for associations and foundations: we have all the required expertise in-house to advise our clients on all questions relating to their operations. For the few legal areas of expertise (namely tax law) that Aurion does not have in-house, we work together with specialised partners.
